Canopy Challege Afternoon

After riding at full speed behind the adult huskies, we got to handle the youngest generation of puppies in the pack.

They couldn't be any cuter than this.

Henry plays with a puppy while lunch is being prepared.

Rob Leeds, the proprietor and chef from Latitude 39, cooks our lunch of barbecued chicken and roasted vegetables over the open fire before we encounter the afternoon events.

The challenge begins with an exercise in trust when each of us falls backward and is caught in the arms of the group.

Then, blindfolded and lassoed, we grope our way into the "enchanted" rainforest, guided only by the voice of Henry's friend, Javier.

BobbiJo carries the safety harness.

As the going gets steeper, stairs aid the climb.

We walk across a chasm using two steel cables.

Joslyn's turn is next.

Katy gets a chance to show how it's done.

Then we each slide down the zip line to a landing across the creek.

In the canopy of the bosque we discover delicate Copihues, the protected national flower of Chile.

Only six at a time in the treetop lookout, but clouds obscure the view of the two volcanoes on the horizon.

The final challenge was to retrieve the treasure box from the middle of the stream without getting our feet wet.

We bid adios to the attentive huskies at the end of the day.
