Un Paseo Por El Bosque

It was a short walk in the woods. At last, winter is coming to Arucania. We hiked a trail in the afternoon at Huerquehue National Park up into the snow line and had to push our way through snow-laden thickets of Andean bamboo.

Susan used her walking stick to prod the bowing bamboo stalks free of their snowy burden. Then the branch would spring up and we'd get covered anyway. It was a pleasant way to pass the afternoon in the bright sunlight.

A timed self-portrait back at the parking lot.

Volcan Villarica covered in a mantle of fresh snow. The ski season here should get started before the middle of July.
